Rollins Lake spans 900 acres and boasts 26 miles of shoreline. It’s home to an abundance of 10-12 inch rainbow trout which are consistently stocked in spring, alongside a thriving population of kokanee salmon. The lake also supports a good warm water fishery for bass, catfish, bluegill, and crappie. The prime time for trout fishing is during spring, particularly near the lake's southern end by the dam. No stockings since spring, but with cooling water temperatures, rainbow trout are becoming much more aggressive, chasing shad into shallower areas of the lake. The best trout action has been in the early mornings using shad-colored spoons or spinners. Spotted bass activity is also improving with the cooler temps. Dropshots, T-rigged Roboworms, and small flukes are all getting attention. Fishing should only improve over the next few weeks.
