Located in the hills of Marin County, Bon Tempe Lake serves as a drinking water reservoir, maintained by the Marin Municipal Water District. Starting in winter and through early spring, the lake is stocked on multiple occasions with rainbow trout by the CDFW. The peak of trout fishing occurs right around the time of the stockings. Bon Tempe is also home to a solid population of bass and bluegill, which picks up during the warmer months. As previously noted, the lake is utilized for the storage of potable water, so boating and swimming are strictly prohibited.
