Prado Regional Park Fishing Overview

Water Description

Prado Regional Park, situated in Chino, offers a plethora of recreational activities, including camping, hiking, disc golf, biking, and more. But most importantly, the park houses Prado Lake, which is home to a solid multispecies fishery. Trout fishing dominates during the colder months, while largemouth bass, catfish, and bluegill take center stage in the summer. Prado Regional Park, situated in Chino, offers a plethora of recreational activities, including camping, hiking, disc golf, biking, and more.

But most importantly, the park houses Prado Lake, which is home to a solid multispecies fishery. Trout fishing dominates during the colder months, while largemouth bass, catfish, and bluegill take center stage in the summer.

Trout are stocked yearly in winter, and the best time to fish is near those stock dates. Bass fishing good, but primarily for smaller fish. Giant catfish have been caught at Prado, mainly by soaking stink baits in low light.

The lake is open to kayaks, canoes, and some electric motors. Paddle boat rentals are also available.

Excellent Rainbow Trout bite

Prado Lake trout action has been very good lately. Rainbows are being stocked every Thursday by San Bernardino County, plus bonus plants from CDFW (one in December and another last week). Folks are finding lots of 2-3 pounders, but 5-6 pounders are also being caught. Even a few lightning trout are being picked up once in a while. Mice Tails...

Prado Lake trout action has been very good lately. Rainbows are being stocked every Thursday by San Bernardino County, plus bonus plants from CDFW (one in December and another last week). Folks are finding lots of 2-3 pounders, but 5-6 pounders are also being caught. Even a few lightning trout are being picked up once in a while. Mice Tails, spinners, and chartreuse PowerBait are all getting bites, and a few catfish are jumping in on the Mice Tail action too. The larger groups of fish have been hanging out in smaller coves rather than the main lake.
