Jackson Meadow Reservoir, situated at 6,200 feet in the Sierra Nevada, offers a fishery for both rainbow and brown trout. The lake receives rainbow trout stockings yearly, typically stocked in early summer after ice-out. Late June provides the best fishing, with limits common for trollers. Fishing gradually slows after this period, with early mornings remaining most productive. Brown trout are not stocked anymore, so catch and release is advised.

The reservoir serves as a base for exploring the surrounding mountain region. It features forests, meadows, and granite landscapes, and The Pacific Crest Trail trailhead is located nearby along the access road.

Facilities include several campgrounds, including a boat-in option, picnic areas, drinking water, toilets, and two paved boat ramps. Supplies can be found in Truckee and Sierraville.
