Prosser Reservoir Fishing Overview

Water Description

Prosser Creek Reservoir is a small, high-country lake tucked just north of Truckee at around 5,700 feet. It’s part of a broader water system built for flood control but sees steady use from campers, anglers, and paddlers during the warmer months. The lake sits frozen or snowed in much of the winter, with access mostly cut off until late spring. Summer brings a mellow mix of trout and bass fishing, especially for small boats and shoreline anglers. With a 10 mph limit, no marina, and a modest footprint, Prosser fishes quiet, even when nearby...

Shore guys are getting them on small Senkos and Keitechs near rocky banks and weed lines. They are pushing deeper near a similar style of structure once the late morning hits. Not much size, but the 1-2 pounders have been quite aggressive.

For trout, trollers running near the bank in 15–30 feet are sticking cutthroat, especially with a faster troll speed. Rainbows are deeper. Kastmasters and spoons are working well (picking up a few smallmouth, too). For fly anglers, it’s small stuff under an indicator... zebra midges and light nymphs early in the day have been the ticket. Surface temps are in the low 70s, and the lake’s sitting just shy of full. No trout plants since late June.
