Santa Ana River Lakes is a privately stocked group of lakes open to the public but for a premium price. Fishing for adults starts at over $30 a day. While this may be a turn-off for some, the chance of landing a trophy trout or catfish here is very high. Camping and boat rentals are available. Night fishing is also available during the summer months.

Three great catches, two of them being my youngest two kids first catches ever. 1 lightning trout and 2 rainbow trout. Missed a few.

Excellent Rainbow Trout bite

Santa Ana River Lakes is known to be loaded with hefty trout and is typically stocked every Thursday during the season (latest coming Feb 6). Big Mt Lassen rainbows with rich pink meat are being caught all around the lake, and some true giants are mixed in. Jigs and micro spoons are getting action and bait soakers are doing fine with PowerBait. But...

Jigs and micro spoons are getting action and bait soakers are doing fine with PowerBait. But the real highlight lately has been inflated nightcrawlers, which have pulled in some tanks over 8 pounds. Catfish are still in play as well.
