Yucaipa Regional Park Fishing Overview

Water Description

Yucaipa is one of six lakes associated with the San Bernardino Regional Parks and offers very good fishing for some giant largemouth bass, as well as catfish, bluegill, and trout in the winter. SBRP stocks rainbow trout and catfish in the winter and summer months, respectively. There is plenty of shoreline access and a few strategically placed fishing docks. A separate fishing permit must be purchased each day you fish, typically costing around $10. The lake can get quite busy in the summer months with a campground, playground, swimming beach...

Fish were not biting on the top lake. Full of algae, but I think I waited to long to adjust my rig. Another fella on the same lake caught 2 rainbows but no one else brought anything in.

Yucaipa continues to receive weekly trout stockings from SBParks, along with multiple plants from CDFW in December. The CDFW fish have been on the smaller side overall, but SBParks has been stocking some giants. A pair of big trout, one over 10 pounds and another around 8, were pulled out within the last week. Bright-colored mini jigs have been doing best for the bigger fish, while PowerBait remains the go-to for consistent action.

On recent rainy days, some anglers are also finding a good bite on small flashy spinners and spoons. Smaller bass are hitting these lures as well.

Park stockings will continue through the cold season and into late March (look for a double stock on Jan 29).
