Quarry Lakes Fishing Report

Horseshoe Lake received two Lassen Trout stockings in November and a DFW stocking in early December. The lake has seen heavy fishing pressure lately, with many anglers lining up along the "row" or dock, soaking PowerBait or nightcrawlers, and landing a few fish. The bigger trout, however, have been caught mainly along the backside or off the island by deep-casting mice tails, spoons, or jigs. The best bite windows have been early morning or midday when the sun is at its peak. Another stocking is expected in early January.

There's still a subtle bass bite on slowly worked soft plastic worms or live nightcrawlers.

Horseshoe and Rainbow are both offering a fair bass bite as of late. Mostly smaller fish, under a pound... but a couple of 7+ pounders were pulled out of Horseshoe last week. Senkos and T-rigged creature baits are getting the most attention from the quality fish. Spinners and drop shots are working for the smaller ones. Rainbow Lake is also churning out some mammoth double-digit pound carp.
