Plenty of bluegill and the occasional crappie are being caught near the launch dock and deep in the coves. Jigs, nightcrawlers, or flies.
As the water warms at Calero, the grass is getting thicker, but so are the bass! Quality fish are being caught all over the lake, with a couple of reports of fish just over 7 pounds. There has also been a consistent frog bite, especially during the transitional parts of the day.
Bass are in spawn mode. Anglers are getting the most action either sight fishing for beds or casting shallow. Crankbaits and soft plastics have been getting the most action. A few big fish have been spotted as well.
