Almaden Lake is a 32-acre urban lake in San Jose that allows shoreline fishing only, with no boats permitted. Despite heavy angling and recreational pressure, the lake supports strong populations of largemouth bass, crappie, and catfish. Anglers can access most of the entire shoreline via the Almaden Lake Trail that circles the lake.

Bass and crappie can get massive here at Almaden, as bass average around 2 pounds, with giants reaching double-digits.

Shoreline access and nearby picnic areas make this a convenient fishing option in the city, but be prepared for crowds, especially on weekends.
