Almaden Reservoir Fishing Overview

Water Description

Set in the hills of San Jose, the Almaden Reservoir offers a decent largemouth bass fishery. However, fishing at Almaden is generally difficult due to an overabundance of weeds and challenging shoreline access. Nevertheless, some larger bass are present, along with fair fisheries for catfish, sunfish, and crappie. Boats are not permitted on the reservoir. All fish must be caught and released due to mercury contamination from nearby abandoned mines.
