Set in the El Dorado National Forest, Stumpy Meadows Reservoir is primarily a cold-water fishery, featuring both brown and rainbow trout. Due to its location and elevation, winter access is impossible due to the access road being blocked by snow. But once the snow melts, fishing can be excellent.

Stumpy Meadows is consistently stocked with both rainbow and brown trout throughout the spring and summer, so there's plenty to go around. Some anglers cast from shore, but most troll the main lake, targeting schools and bigger fish.

Also, a subtle largemouth bass, catfish, and sunfish bite can pick up in late summer / early fall.
