Trout fishing is best from a boat... often trolling. Shore casters can definitely find success, especially during drawdown periods, although typically the higher the water level, the better the fishing.
Bass fishing tends to attract anglers to the northern arm of the lake, away from the hustle and bustle of the main lake. Casting bass lures can also yield bites from giant brown trout, bringing quite the unexpected thrill. Mackinaw are scattered about, though typically don’t grow larger than a couple of pounds.
The upper end of the lake has a 5 mph speed limit and no jet skis are permitted. These rules preserve the serenity of the lake, although summer weekends can still get crowded.
Jenkinson Lake has plenty of facilities that cater to anglers, including a marina, two boat ramps, campgrounds, and a tackle store.
