Lower Bear River Reservoir in Eldorado National Forest contains rainbow, mackinaw, and brown trout. The lake is known for huge mackinaw, with the lake record being over 30 pounds. An annual trout derby occurs in yearly in June. The reservoir is typically accessible from late April through October, depending on ice and weather.
