As soon as the access road is cleared and the snowplows start rolling in spring, the lake is planted with rainbow trout, providing good catch rates for trollers. Shore fishing can be tough, but soaking dough bait on the west side dock is effective right after the stock. Huntington has planted thousands of fingerling kokanee salmon in the past, and there are some big resident brown trout.
Huntington gets the most pressure during the summer season but still provides solid fishing for anglers who know what they are doing (and have a boat). By late October, when the cold weather sets in, everything at the lake tends to shut down for the winter.
