Tucked away in the rugged peaks of the Sierras, Lake Edison is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, offering activities from horseback riding to navigating the John Muir Trail.

While Edison is primarily stocked with fingerling trout, its depths also hide elusive giant rainbow and brown trout that are seldom found elsewhere. Adventurous anglers might find their best chance of catching these giants in the early season when parts of the lake's surface remain frozen. However, a word of caution: venturing onto the ice can be extremely dangerous.

As the season progresses and the snow melts, the road becomes accessible, and boaters are commonly seen trolling Edison's waters, primarily catching rainbow trout, with the occasional brown or brook trout making an appearance. For those willing to hike, the northern end of the lake offers prime remote fishing spots.

A note of caution: the road to Lake Edison is narrow and winding, proving particularly challenging on crowded weekends. Those with boats in tow should be especially careful. But for many, braving these obstacles for a secluded fishing trip surrounded by the Sierra's breathtaking beauty is undoubtedly worth the effort.
