Dixon will receive its first catfish stock of the season on July 12th, with night fishing kicking off the same day (5:45pm - 11:45pm). Catfish anglers are still hooking the occasional holdover from last season, and they've been big.

The bass action has been hit and miss, and extremely hot temperatures this week won't help much. The early morning bite has been best on flukes, some topwater, and bluegill-colored reaction baits.

A lot of smaller bass at Dixon are being caught and reported. But quietly, anglers have recently hooked a couple of giants. A lot of smaller bass at Dixon are being caught and reported. But quietly, anglers have recently hooked a couple of giants. Two chunky 8+ pounders were caught in the last week, one on a big swimbait, and the other on a plastic worm. This spring has produced plenty of action, but not much size. It looks as though this is changing as big females are becoming more active late in the spawn.

Trout action is slow with warming water and no stocks within a couple of months. Catfish should pick up here shortly.

Spawning time at Dixon. Beds can be spotted everywhere although most fish are just males. Not a lot of big females moving in just yet. The last trout stock of the season (3,000 pounds) was planned for April 24th. Powerbait deep and small spinners shallow.
