Limits are coming near the buoy line and in the back of coves on PowerBait and pink Floating Trout Worms.
The bass bite at Dixon is officially on—for both size and numbers. Drophots and Senkos are producing good numbers up to 3 pounds, while bigger fish are coming on glide baits and topwater frogs along the tule edges. A 6+ pounder was caught a couple days ago. Expect the bite to stay hot as bass feed up and ease into spawn patterns.
Dixon Lake continues to fish well with 1,500-pound trout stockings occurring approx every two weeks. Whisker Bay has been the top spot right after a stock, but as fish spread out, the buoy line and Trout Cove are good bets. The influx of stocker trout is also stirring up Dixon’s trophy-sized bass. While most bass are transitioning from the shallows to deeper water (dropshotting in 20+ feet has been best) this is prime time to break out those giant trout-style swimbaits for a shot at hooking one of Dixon’s legendary behemoth bass.
A few late-season catfish are still being caught as well, early mornings or right before close.
