Temescal rainbow action is holding up better than expected for mid-June. Trout are still in play, especially early or late in the day, with deeper water near the dam dock and the far-side point producing best. The cooler weather gave the bite a short boost, and a few lightning trout are being caught, including a 9-pounder reported by one of our members. Not a numbers game, but they’re still there.
Bass action is spotty. Mostly 1- to 2-pound fish are coming on drop-shot Roboworms, jerkbaits, and swimbaits worked tight to cover. A 6-pounder was pulled in the evening last week. There’s a decent algae bloom starting, which makes for tough, clean casting.
