With water temps hovering around 70 degrees, all three bass species are very active. Spots are hitting smaller finesse-style baits (drop shot), while smallmouth and largemouth have been biting baitfish-imitating swimbaits. The water is very clear, so subtlety in your casting and technique is essential in not spooking the fish.

Bass action has been tough. Not a lot of bites, and not a lot of size. The rising water level could be the culprit, or it may be an off-year. The folks who are catching fish are primarily using soft plastics... weightless Senkos, drop-shots, or slow-rolling swim baits. A few spinner bait fish were...

Bass, Crappie

Water temperatures have been up and down, but consistent warmer weather this week should improve all fishing. Spotted bass is still the most active species at the moment. Anglers are still using the finesse tactics mentioned in our last report. A few largemouth have been caught as well.
