Lake Gregory Fishing Report

Gregory has been closed to fishing for the past few weeks (since August 5th). Different reports suggest different reasons. Some say it's due to algae and water quality. But our best source says it's due to a malfunction with the lake's aerator system. So the shutdown is primarily to limit pressure on the fish and protect their health until it can be resolved.

Trout bite is non existent but it's to be expected deep in to summer as we are. Me and a buddy finally caught some small mouth bass though and I got my first 2 crappie! Ofcourse the blue gills were biting aswell. Also looks like the dredging thats going on has affected the fish population very negatively. Tons of catfish were washed up dead on the banks along with a few carp and 1 or 2 nice sized trout (2-3lb). Also spotted a few catfish with sores and spots on them, 5 of the 7 fish we caught Also had noticeable sores and discoloration so they're definetly being affected negatively by something.
