Melones trout season is kicking off with a CDFW stocking last week and another scheduled for this week. Trout have been spotted throughout the lake, from the surface down to 75 feet, although trollers are having a tough time getting consistent bites. Shore anglers near the Tuttletown launch are doing well with PowerBait and nightcrawlers.

On the bass side, quality largemouth and spotted bass are being caught near rocky areas in 10-25 feet of water, especially around schools of bait. North of the 49 Bridge has reportedly been a productive area. Wacky Senkos, football jigs, and dropshots are all working, with plenty of 2-3 pounders being landed.

Catfish are still active and continue gorging on bait.
