Cuyamaca is leaning mostly on panfish action this summer, with decent-sized bluegill chewing hard anywhere there’s cover or structure in the shallows. Trout have thinned out... plants wrapped up in early June... so only a few fish are showing at first light and deeper down for those soaking nightcrawlers or running small spinners. Bass reports remain dead quiet... some mention there was a large die-off last year, but this isn't known for sure. Shore anglers are casting near the docks in the rec area, finding plenty of small yellow bullhead on crawlers and carp on corn or dough baits.
