Sutherland is finally starting to get a fairly consistent bass bite. The fish aren't overly active, so finesse plastics, subtle presentations, and stop/start retrieves are getting the most action. Most fish have been around 1 pound, but a 7-pounder was hooked earlier last month.
The dramatic water level increase since the lake opening has thrown fishing for a loop. Bass are finicky and haven't established any consistent behavior pattern yet. Once water levels stabilize, fishing should improve.
With the new season kicking off, water levels are quite low, and temperatures remain somewhat chilly. A few small bass have been caught, but overall, the bite is slow, which is fairly typical for late March and early April.
