Fishing at Lake Casitas has been excellent lately, no matter what you’re targeting. The CDFW stocked the lake in late November, with another trout plant scheduled for this week. Trollers are finding limits by pulling spoons and Needlefish, while shore anglers are hooking up by soaking PowerBait or inflated nightcrawlers.
Bait schools continue to bust around the lake, and shad-colored swimbaits, jerkbaits, and even some topwater are all producing quality bass. Texas-rigged or drop-shot Robo Worms in 15 to 20 feet of water have been another solid approach when the reaction bite slows.
Meanwhile, action for big catfish has also been solid, using cut mackerel and chicken livers.
