Dry fly action has been very good, especially midday. Nymphing remains very consistent throughout most of the day. Some big browns have been caught as well swinging streamers through tailouts.

Fowlers Camp and Lower Falls received a CDFW trout plant last week... worth targeting for bait and spin anglers.

The farthest reaches of the upper water houses wild rainbows and the native McCloud River redband trout... one of the few places left in the state to find them. Worth the trip.

Memorial Day just passed, so expect more and more company on the water, particularly on weekends.

Rainbows have been spread out across lake and responding near the surface. Guides have been running full loops around the lake to stay on them, trolling pink orange colored stick baits right around 3 mph, landing plenty of stockers and the occasional fish up to 3 pounds. Plenty of short strikes reported as well... getting hit hard but unable to keep them on the hook. Some shore anglers are pulling small limits by throwing spinners early in the morning off points and in the back of coves. A lot of fun action.

Look for the action to stay in the upper part of the water column as water temps increase over the next couple of weeks.
