Soft plastic worms have been the name of the game here at Cachuma lately. Plenty of action on the most popular Roboworm colors for fish up to 3 pounds, drop-shotted or Texas-rigged. Reports mention a random trout stocking a couple weeks ago, although we are unable to confirm. It may be worth throwing Powerbait in as deep of water as possible (warming water temps should move them deep quickly) to see if it's true.

Warm weather approaches and the bass bite has come with it. Action for both largemouth and smallmouth has been very good. The largemouth are easing into prespawn behavior... becoming quite aggressive. Reaction baits (crankbaits) near brush lines have been getting bit. The smallmouth are also ramping up, though holding in slightly deeper areas. Reaction strikes as well. Crappie and panfish are still slow.
Cachuma is totally full, and bass fishing has been fair. There's been an early-day reaction bite on jerkbaits thrown shallow. Midday action turns to finesse techniques (dropshow / worming) further from shore. Crappie fishing should ignite here shortly, especially with another batch of warm weather.
Muddy water has hampered previously solid fishing for both bass and trout. As the water clears (and the weather warms), action should pick back up quickly. On the positive side, the cloudy water has sparked a good catfish bite... look for the muddiest of areas to throw your line.
