Started at about 6:30am on the east cove near the fishing dock fishing the shallow water near the spawning bed with no signs of life. Since they received a trout stocking last Thursday, decided to work the swimbait around the launch ramp and docks. After about an hour of nothing, decided to work the main point out from Baltimore street. After 2 casts with a medium diving crank, something aggressively smashed the bait and it immediately felt like a nicer fish. I didn’t have a scale with me, but looked to me like a solid 6 pounder that had been gorging on shad and possibly trout (due to the protruding belly) in preparation for the spawn. Spent another hour in the area with nothing on the reaction baits and just 2 smaller fish around pound on a drop shot Roboworm. The front quickly moved in and the wind picked up, so I called it a day around 1 o’clock and ended up with 3 fish for my effort.
