The lake is now open until 12 am on Fridays and Saturdays, which is perfect for nighttime catfish fishing. Surprisingly, anglers are still catching trout out of Jennings, even with the water temperature pushing close to 70 degrees. Shore anglers are casting full-size nightcrawlers under bobbers, while trollers are pulling Rapalas and spoons.
The bass bite has finally unlocked. Fish are moving shallow preparing for spawn. Weightless worming and jerkbaits have been highly effective. Catfishing is good also.
It's worth noting, the Helix Water District reported they'll be dropping the lake over 20 feet by the end of April. This will have a drastic effect on the fishing.
