Lake Silverwood got a boost a couple of weeks ago with a 5,000-pound trout plant, and the bite is picking up. Mini jigs in dark colors like Black Galaxy, or Peanut Butter and Jelly are working best. Stick with 1/16 oz jigs, keep them near the bottom, and retrieve super slow. The trout are hanging around shallow areas near drop-offs, but they’re in tight lanes, so accurate casting is a must.
Use an ultralight setup with 4 lb fluorocarbon leader for the clear water. If the bite is slow, don’t stay put—switch spots until you find the active fish.
The striper action is slowing down, but crappie are biting. Folks are getting limits dropping jigs on structure 30-35 feet deep.
