Hesperia Lake Fishing Report

Trout are consistently hitting at Hesperia Lake, especially right after the regular Mt. Lassen stockings, which have been rolling in every Thursday throughout winter. Most fish are in the 2 to 6 pound range, but there's also some hefty ones in the double digits. Minijigs, Trout Worms, garlic PowerBait, and nightcrawlers are working well. The bite tapers off between plants but quickly rebounds when new trout hit the water. No word on catfish.

Weekly trout stockings are underway at Hesperia, and the bite has been excellent, delivering both quantity and quality. In just the past week, anglers have landed trout weighing 6 lbs, 6.5 lbs, and even 8.4 lbs. The larger fish seem to be targeting jigged imitation minnows, though PowerBait dough is also producing. There's a bit of a crowd, so get there early, especially on weekends.

Meanwhile, catfish anglers are still enjoying good action, with bigger fish hitting on prawns and chicken livers.

Catfish anglers at Hesperia are facing some hiccups lately. The usual weekly stocking didn't happen, breaking the regular pattern for the first time this season. Coupled with a recent heat wave, it's made for slower fishing overall. There are still cats to be caught though if you focus on the cooler, low light hours. Chicken liver and garlic scented shrimp are still your best bet.
