Steve Cooper reports the California Delta is in full spawn mode, with bass pushing shallow but tough to stick due to wind and unstable weather. The bite’s been tide-dependent—best during high outgoing or low incoming. Most fish are coming in on worms, jigs, chatterbaits, and spinnerbaits near wood, rock, and tulles, especially where the bottom’s clean and there’s some current.
Stripers are scattered but showing, with fewer shorts and more keeper-sized fish; trolling’s producing the bigger ones, while plugs and crankbaits are picking off schoolies.
