Lake Elsinore Fishing Report

The spring bass bite is on at Elsinore, with water temps in the high 50s to low 60s and fish fully locked into spawn mode. Jigs and T-rigged craw plastics are working very well all around the lake (Lakepoint Park has been especially good). Small crankbaits and spinnerbaits are also picking up fish shallow. Winds have made things tough in the afternoon, but if you’re out late morning before it kicks up, conditions and fishing are near ideal.

WON reports the wiper bite is exploding right now. Constantly casting spoons along the shoreline and covering water fast is the way to tap into the schools.

Crappie and bluegill action has been very good also on live worms and small jigs.

Elsinore’s water temps are holding in the high 50s, so the general warm water species bite hasn’t completely shut down yet, though bass action remains tough. Anglers are pulling fish up to 3 pounds, but it's sporadic. Wacky-rigged Senkos in natural colors, small swimbaits, and live nightcrawlers are working best. Shore anglers soaking dough or corn are catching carp, and a few smaller catfish are still being caught as well.

Here comes the bass bite at Elsinore. The largie action has ignited within the last week or so. Shad-colored square bills, drop-shots, Senkos, Flukes, and spoons are all catching fish. Most anglers are targeting brush piles and shallow structure, pulling mostly 1-2 pounders, although 3-4+ pounds haven't been uncommon.

The Wiper bite is solid as well, with spoons and smaller shad-style reaction baits doing the job. These fish school up, so keep casting around until you find ’em... with one there will be many more.

The catfish bite is hot on chicken livers, hot dogs, and garlic prawns, especially near the east side channel. Carp are everywhere, and bow anglers are having a blast.
