First trout stock of the year hit on Dec. 10, and opened for fishing on the 11th. While the plan was to drop 3,500 pounds, only 2,000 made it due to “unforeseen circumstances.” Still, it’s a win for patient trout anglers. Keep an eye out for giant holdover trout from last year’s plants too.
The largemouth bite remains solid, with soft plastic worms working best in 15-20 feet of water, either drop-shot or T-rigged. Some anglers are still finding decent striper action—no monsters, but plenty of keeper schoolies chasing swimbaits and jerkbaits around bait blow-ups.
Quick note: the lake is still dealing with a slight algae bloom.
