Irvine Lake is giving anglers consistent trout action as stockings have continued throughout January. Most are smaller rainbows, but fish up to 3 pounds are showing up regularly, and a 7-pounder was landed last week. Orange Mice Tails, corn PowerBait, and green Power Eggs are working best, with microspoons also pulling in fish. The west shore near Santiago Creek Dam is reportedly producing the best, especially early in the morning. Light line and Kastmasters have been best for the larger fish.
A few giant blue catfish have also been landed recently by anglers using chicken livers and garlic prawns as bait.
