Trout fishing has been very good if and when you locate the fish. Water temps have been in the mid 70’s by afternoon so trolling with a lead core set up including at least 60’ of leader - 2 colors in the AM and 4-5 colors as the day heats up was the ticket. We limited yesterday afternoon in 20 minutes with gold/red Thomas Buoyant lures.
The action at Eagle Lake has been on fire since the reopening on May 23. Water temps are still in the low 60s, and conditions are absolutely perfect. Trollers are pulling easy limits on Speedy Shiners and spoons at 20–30 feet... faster speeds are working better on the east side, slower on the west. Fly anglers have been having a blast nymphing...

Eagle Lake's famous unique-strain trout are living up to their name... hitting hard, putting up awesome fights, and eating very well.

Fish have pushed to the top of the water column, with trout up to 5 pounds reported last week from 20 feet up to the surface. Orange has been the hot color...

Fish have pushed to the top of the water column, with trout up to 5 pounds reported last week from 20 feet up to the surface. Orange has been the hot color, with grubs, trolling flies, and spoons in bright orange doing best.
