The Lower Kings has seen consistent CDFW trout plants all winter, including another drop this week below Pine Flat Dam... so there is no shortage of stockers spread through the usual access points. That said, the standout bite has been on larger resident trout, with anglers throwing upsized flies, jigs, and other bigger profiles and tangling with multiple fish pushing five pounds or better in a single outing. Pressure has been heavy in the best areas, with some stretches getting shoulder-to-shoulder crowded. A lot of the better fish are now set up in slower seams, inside bends, and softer edge water, as water levels continue to drop.
