South Lake Fishing Overview
Water Description
South Lake is a high-altitude fishery situated among mountain peaks in a Sierra-Canadian ecological zone. The lake is home to rainbow, brook, and brown trout, with browns being particularly sought-after. The lake record brown trout weighing over 17 pounds was caught in 1998, but plenty of bruisers are still in the lake. While fishing from shore is possible, boats provide access to some of the best spots. Facilities include a tackle shop, boat rentals, and a boat launch.
