Contrasting reports are coming from the Feather. Some anglers say the shad and striper action is slowing down, while others note it's been spectacular. The assumption is that the truth lies somewhere in between. Fly anglers are also still finding some late-exiting spring steelhead on stoneflies.

The Lower Sac is cooling off for both shad and stripers. Shad can still be caught, but not for much longer. Your best bet is near the Rossmoor Bar. The best time for stripers is early morning and late evening, as boat traffic has really affected the bite midday.

A few trollers are still picking up King Salmon, primarily on the south end. But bite consistency and fish size have been underwhelming.

Big spotted bass are active in Oroville. Many are spawning, or getting ready to spawn. Underspins and drop-shots are still where its at. Plenty of quality spots in shallow water. A few king salmon have been caught by trollers from 50-60ft.

Steelhead action has been slow, although striper action is picking up on the lower river. Mostly schoolies, nothing big. But if you find'em they'll bite. Another month or so, and this year's projected very good shad run should begin.
